Biography

Hélène Jayet (Franco-Malian photographer)

Hélène Jayet was born in Châtillon sur Seine in 1977. After having been awarded a national diploma in plastic arts at Montpellier's École supérieure des beaux-arts, she finished her photographic training at the Image ouverte school of photography, followed CAM studies at the Multimedia school and studied photojournalism at Emi-Cfd.

Her images focus on intimacy, history, memory and identity issues. She has been working on a project concerning adoption for several years and meanwhile roams the Château d’eau district in the 10th arrondissement of Paris in search of the craziest hairstyles.

Her work has been exhibited at the Dakar biennale with the Mupho photo museum, at Holland's Africa Museum, as well as the Bamako museum for the photography biennale during the Summer of photography in Brussels, and at the Circulation(s) festival in Paris.
