Biography
Marie Mons is a visual artist graduated from the Penninghen Graduate School of Graphic Arts. Born in 1984, she lives and works in Paris. Between plastic research and questions of the intimate, Marie Mons offers a multifaceted photography, both free and very constructed. Geographical landscapes and personal regions resonate through all of his work. Mons is continuing its research within the framework of residences in France and abroad (Spain, Iceland, Canada, Singapore, Finland). She explores by all means available to her her inner universe but also the world around her and invents a dreamlike language to tell it to us. First artist monograph published by ARP2 Éditions, 2017.
“Photography is at the center of my experiments. I see the self-portrait as an escape that allows me to place my own distant gaze on me and thus free myself from that of others. Inspired by tales & legends and my fantasies, I explore virgin territories, offering something else to perceive. Showcasing a reality just like behind the scenes, I promise to reveal the difference in all its beauty. ”
