Biography
Born in Paris in 1972, Ambroise Tezenas graduated from the École d'Arts Appliqués in Vevey, Switzerland. Based in London and then Paris, he works as a photojournalist for the French and international press, travelling in South East Asia, Central and South America.
Since 2001, he has chosen to devote himself to landscape photography and has begun a long-term work on the city of Beijing, in full mutation on the eve of the 2008 Olympic Games. In 2006, he received the Leica European Publishers Award for Photography for his book Beijing, Theatre of the People, and in 2009, the Nikon Story Teller Award at the PDN Photo Annual (USA) for his photographs of Cuba - a report commissioned by the New York Times Magazine, of which he has been a regular contributor since 2007.
Finalist for the Prix de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts and nominated for the Prix Pictet in 2012, Ambroise Tezenas' work is part of numerous private collections around the world as well as the public collections of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Musée Français de la Photographie de Bièvres and the Musée d'Art Moderne of Paris. His work is regularly featured in major international publications, including the New York Times Magazine, AD Magazine and W Magazine.
