Biography
An independent photographer since 1976 and a member of Magnum Photos, Patrick Zachmann has devoted his career to producing photo essays that show the complexity of communities, their identity and culture.
Director of feature-length and short films, his last multimedia documentary followed a Somali migrant on his journey from Malta to France.
Patrick Zachmann regularly conducts conferences and workshops in Paris at l'École des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD) and abroad, notably at the School of Photography in Rome (ISFCI). Recently he was invited by l'Institut Français to give a conference to young Tunisian photographers. He was commissioned by Marseille 2013 to produce an exhibition at the Fort St-Jean in November 2013.
