She can be found on all fronts, finding the best angle and triggering violent emotions: the schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria, the Kurdish fighters against the Islamic State in Iraq, the war against drugs in the Philippines, but also the convicts of the industry in China or the inhabitants of the "jungle" in Calais.
In 2018, Véronique de Viguerie won the Paris Match News Visa d'or and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Visa d'or at the International Festival from Photojournalism Visa Pour l'Image, for its report: "Yemen, the war that is hidden from us".
For her, it all began in Afghanistan, in 2003, where Véronique from Carcassonne, a recent law graduate, went for the first time. Very quickly, reality
of the war catches up with her: she narrowly escapes a suicide bombing. Very quickly, too, her composure and her sense of image were praised and recognized.
The one who ironically presents herself as a "war photojournalist, mother of two, blonde and not stupid" never ceases to be driven by the desire to show "what needs to be seen".
