HISTORY OF THE CAVROIS VILLA The villa Cavrois, a work of the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, figure of the modernist movement, was designed and built in Croix between 1929 and 1932, as an architectural manifesto for Paul Cavrois, textile industrial from the North, and his family. In 1990 the villa was classified as a historical monument, thanks to the mobilization of the citizens, and in 2001 it was acquired by the state. In 2003 the DRAC Nord-Pas-de Calais started with gigantic restoration work. In 2008 they were taken over by the Center des monuments nationaux and the works will be completed in the course of 2015.
