Biographie

 
Andrew Phelps is an American photographer and who has been living in Europe since 1990. His work is influenced by the cross-cultural lifestyle he now leads, dividing his time between the deserts of Arizona and the Alps of Austria.
 
His 2 pivotal books, Higley (2007), and Haboob (2012), are examples of his documentary style which finds a way of combining global issues with his own personal story and autobiography.
 
His Japan project Not Niigata (2009) directly takes on photography's struggle to tell a story in a place which is foreign and unfamiliar.
 
He works closely with the Gallery Fotohof in Salzburg as curator and board member.  Alongside his own work, Andrew keeps a blog about special edition photography books called Buffet and is a member of the Piece of Cake collective.
