Biographie

Charlotte Mano was born in 1990 in a small town on the southwest coast of France. After graduating from a dual licence in French literature and cultural communication, she decided to enter the Gobelins photo school, from which she graduated among the valedictorians. Her sources of influence are various: 19th century fantastic literature, contemporary painting like Djamel Tatah or Zhang Xiaogang, or even plastic artists like Oscar Munoz.
Photography come quite lately into her life, her father would not allow her to use this medium. Through portraits and landscapes, writing and reportage, and even "plastic image", Charlotte's series are all linked by the same questions that are at the basement of her photographic writing: representation, limits of images, confusion.
She, now, surrounds herself with photo professionals (Jean-Marc Lacabe, Amaury da Cunha, Rui Prata, Alejandro Castellotte, Peggy Sue Amison...) so as to nurture her works that she always questions. "I cannot say that a project has come to an end, it's impossible, I go from a series to another according to what I experience, but I always go back to them, as if I were haunted."
Charlotte also makes a point of conducting conferences with other artists, as well as workshops, "it's an essential balance" she says.
