In 1834, the abolition of slavery on the Cape allowed certain slaves to change really of life but often they became a hand of very cheap work, what hardly changed their way of living, set apart that they were free at least on the paper. Since the return in the Democracy in the country, houses are painted by lively colors there. It is a symbol because at the time of the slavery they had ban to carry(wear) clothes of color and were always in white. The inhabitants are the main organizers(presenters) of the Carnival of the Cape on January 2nd of every year.
