Saturday 3 May was World Press Freedom Day. Proclaimed in 1993 by the United Nations General Assembly, the aim of the day is to remind governments of their duty to guarantee the independence of the media, and also to pay tribute to journalists around the world who risk and sometimes lose their lives to defend the truth. In an age of artificial intelligence, disinformation and increasing threats to press freedom around the world, World Press Freedom Day shows just how essential this fight remains. This year's theme is the ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence in journalism: between the creation of automated content, the manipulation of information and human rights abuses, vigilance has never been so crucial. To celebrate this day in style, we have chosen an Album of the Week under the banner of freedom, respect and independence. A selection that echoes those who refuse to be silenced.
