On holidays with a friend in the north of Thailand, where few people speak english, we managed to hire a tuk-tuk driver to take us to this village where "Tai Dam" people live and demonstrate weaving craft. There, in the black clothing typical of this ethnic group ("Tai Dam" means "Black Thai"), children are playing and old women are weaving or selling their crafts. We communicated using gestures and smiles, and these hands skillfully detangling these threads to prepare the weaving loom is one of the memories I keep from this visit.
