Deir el Qamar, 11.33 am Short break in Deir el Qamar, on the road to the Ottoman palace of Beiteddine, in the Chouf region. The battery of the GPS has failed us; we arrived here blind. One fuse later, I come across this car sheltered under its tarpaulin, with all the terraces up high. It's a really soothing village. Not very big, but it manages to house a number of palaces, places of worship and fountains surrounded by small streets and deserted roofs.
