Argentina, 1980
A biologist and microscopy hobbyist, Fernán Federici has worked on compositions found at the microscale by applying microscopy techniques to a wide range of materials and disposed biological samples.
As a member of TECNOx and GOSH (Global open science hardware) open technology movements, Fernán has explored the use of open hardware for his microphotography. Learning from a diverse community of DIYbio practioners, he aims to facilitate access to this technology in his region.
All his education has been supported by the free educational system of Argentina and international scholarships, revealing to him the importance of open education, open access to knowledge and the use of low cost devices such as microscopes.
