Biographie

François ADAM was born in 1964.

He was attracted to the natural sciences from an early age, and after an initial training course in forestry and agriculture, he studied at the École Nationale Supérieure du Paysage de Versailles, where he became a landscape gardener (d.p.l.g.). Since childhood, his sensitivity has led him to take musical lessons in the organ and then in opera.

Since 1999, he has been a landscape architect advising the Yvelines Council for Architecture, Town Planning and the Environment, where he is mainly interested in planning issues and the future of the region and its inhabitants. Most of his work in this area has focused on the Seine Valley, where he has worked extensively with the Ile-de-France Regional Green Spaces Agency (AEV) on issues relating to the preservation of natural spaces and agriculture in peri-urban areas. He has also worked for several years with the Region's Heritage and Inventory Department (SPI) on the diagnosis of the heritage of the Seine Valley, for which he is developing the landscape aspect.

To further its missions and better grasp the complexity of current and future developments, since 2009 it has been using video as a tool to listen to places and their stakeholders. As a result, it has produced a number of educational and documentary films for local areas and their inhabitants ("Portraits d'Ares", 2009 - "Carac'Terres", 2015 - "Paysages Vivants", 2019). He collects and reproduces sounds and words. His attentive ear has forged in him a certainty: the landscape, like an opera, writes a score that is as sonorous as it is visual, where the dimensions of rhythm and duration are essential.

Today, he divides his life between two horizons, the urban horizon of Ile-de-France and the marine horizon of Cotentin.
