My expanded creative process includes experimenting with alternative photographic processes. I am interested in contradicting qualities such as beauty and terror, and making the invisible, visible. These bizarre, fragile- looking mysterious creatures, have weapons which can kill - primordial, almost indestructible, and thrive in all conditions.I am a sea swimmer and am experiencing an increasing number of jellyfish blooms. Photograms seemed a direct way of engaging with my subject. This process feels as if I'm extending the physical materiality of the photograph. The physicality comes from the tactile action, of catching and handling and placing these brainless, bloodless, soft ,water filled organisms onto photographic paper.
