Biography

While working on his PhD in literature, Michel Pastore had the chance to meet Gala and Salvador Dali. He worked as a designer for the renovation of the Pubol Castle and Gardens conceived by Dalí for Gala. He participated in writing Oui and Dix Leçons d'Immortalité du Maître. He then turned to opera, becoming the playwright of Jean Claude Fall and working as an assistant to Jean Louis Martinotty, Alain Marceau and Alain Marcel. He participated in writing of the screenplay of To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. Meanwhile, he wrote and directed what he calls Pre-Opera: Les Voix Humaines (from Cocteau) in collaboration with the composer Piotr Moss, The Songs of Ophelia (from Alexander Blok) In corridor Earth (based on the Ranucci case) and Fragments of the Mountain

This allowed Michel Pastore to reach a goal that he had previously pursued at the Bastille Opera Mission in the 1980s, that is: the rehabilitation of a musical heritage that had been annihilated by the third Reich and concealed by the modernist movements. With the cooperation of the Forum Voix Etouffées and the Austrian Cultural Forum, he produced and directed Musiques Dégénérées and Salute to Vienna in 2004, and in 2005 Musiques Dégénérées: Musique dans les Camps. He has been directing the Musiques Interdites Festival in Marseille since 2006. The Musiques Interdites Festival was part of the project application for Marseille European Capital of Culture 2013 thanks to its cultural activities: opera, concerts, conferences, workshops, exhibitions, educational activities in schools and colleges with the Rector Aix-Marseille and activities in the works councils. Since 2007, he directed and co-directed the European Musiques Interdites Festival Marseille-Terezin (Czech Republic) in partnership with Ceska Kultura. From 2008 to 2011 he was the project manager of European Programmes Musiques Interdites France-Czech Republic, Musiques Interdites Berlin-Bucharest-Marseille-Terezin and Musiques Interdites Marseille-Warsaw-Schleswig-Holstein.[/justify]
