When the sea rises
« »
From March 8 to April 12 2023
At a time when climate change is affecting our daily lives, rising sea levels are one of the main concerns of this environmental phenomenon. While it is becoming more and more worrying for small island nations, in Europe it is our coastlines that are affected by erosion in particular. The photo competition WHEN THE SEA RISES, in partnership with the festival Images Singulières, invites you to represent this rise in sea level and all that it engenders.
The Sétois photo festival, les Images Singulières, partner of the competition, invites us to a walk to discover singular views on the contemporary world. Views that challenge and encourage reflection. In 2023, the Brazilian photographer Felipe Fittipaldi, invited for a residency, will encourage us to reflect on the rise in water levels and the acceleration of the erosion process on the coast. The winners of the jury will have their photos exhibited during the festival and the first winner of the jury will be offered, among other things, the book "The march of the ocean", which shows the Brazilian coastal town of Atafona, a symbol of these phenomena as witnessed by Felipe Fittipaldi and Marie-Hélène Ruz, geomorphologist.
