Biography
Born in 1955 in Roanne, in 1981, Gilles Favier met Christian Caujolle who had just established the photography service with the newspaper, Liberation, and so began a professional collaboration with this renowned daily paper.Inspired by the creative imagery of Diane Arbus, Gilles Favier endeavours to cast a humanistic eye on the margins of society. In 2002 he started a major documentary work tracing the path of the ethnologist Pierre Verger. He has left Paris and now lives in the South of France. Gilles Favier is founder and artistic director of ImageSingulières, documentary photography festival in Sète since 2009. He also curates the exhibitions of the Maison de l’Image Documentaire in Sète since 2011.
