Biographie
After a double masters degree in Law and Art History, Françoise Bornstein has been focused on photography.
In 1993, she opened her own agency of photographers and illustrators. She then worked in advertising as an art buyer.
Ten years later, she created SIT DOWN and expanded her disciplines to art direction, exhibition curation and the publishing and distribution of works by artists in the field of photography, fashion and design.
In 2005, she opened Sit Down gallery, a place of multidisciplinary exhibitions, next to the Picasso Museum in Paris. The program of SIT DOWN gallery has been mainly devoted to contemporary photography, both documentary and visual.
The gallery aims to support both young emerging talents and support internationally recognized photographers such as Tom Wood, Yan Morvan, Robert McCabe and Sacha. In addition, SIT DOWN gallery participates in international fairs such as PHOTO BASEL, PHOTO LONDON, PARIS PHOTO, The Photography Show presented by Aipad in New York ...
Concurrently, Françoise Bornstein is a nominatrice for the Niépce Prize and an expert during the “Photo Folio review“ at “Les Rencontres d’Arles“.
