Biographie
From the Nantes region, Jean-Félix Fayolle, 34, first studied international trade and foreign languages. After living in Germany, he finished his studies in Mexico in 2007 where he lives in a working-class neighborhood. He becomes attached to his inhabitants and begins a photo and video work on the bands of the district. He returns regularly to these territories and witnesses the escalation of violence linked to the war against drug trafficking.
Wishing to engage in documentary social photography, he undertook, following his studies, a civic service in Grenoble, then worked several months in Paris for the photographer Reza. He then worked for the “Kouakilariv association” where he carried out projects with social dynamics and image education, in Nantes and abroad. In 2013, he co-founded the Iris Pictures collective and joined the Vies de Quetzal collective the following year. In 2017, he joined Studio Hans Lucas.
He focuses his work on people left on the margins of society, especially in complex urban areas in Latin America, the Philippines and France. In Nantes, he also responds to orders for communities, companies and associations.
