Biographie
Matias Ollivier is a freelance video and film maker, photographer and writer. Franco-Colombian, he developed his roots in Martinique and has been shaped by the intersection of distinct societies. Neither entirely from here, nor entirely from elsewhere, he takes a passionate look at cultural particularisms and questions the place of myths as the foundations of cultures and civilizations. He stubbornly insists on a poetic gesture in each of his projects, maintaining that aesthetics are the keystone of any undertaking.
Director of video and multimedia content and assistant artistic director at Alchimies Créations et Cultures, he plays a key role in the organization of the Orientalys Festival and the Festival du Monde Arabe (FMA). In particular, he has contributed to the development of original creations presented as part of the FMA.
Matias Ollivier holds a bachelor's degree in film studies and a D.É.S.S in journalism from the Université de Montréal. He also directed and hosted a radio program on Arab music entitled "Arabitudes".
