“When cash connects people”
Here’s a photo contest for which your camera will have to gawk at money. ??
Take photos of some green bills and drachmas as well as the body with face with eyes ogling at money. You will then capture these materialistic means of money exchange, which slides away from one’s wallet to another and that which lets people meet basic needs.
The themes associated with cash are vast. Despite the development of nontangible means of payment (credit card, bitcoins, point of sales, paypal, virtual currencies, etc), yet cash remains the most widely used means of payment in the world. For this contest, do not hesitate to grab the main theme with your singular idiolect. You can also magnify the object (coins and bills are largely decorated); capture trade (a bargain at a market place or a counting plate at the baker’s , a negotiation with an Uber taxi, a game of Monopoly with your family); represent its value (foreign currencies, piggy banks, changemaker), revisit popular expressions (a million dollar dream, money bags, sell kidneys for iphone). You can photograph anything and everything, so don’t be narrow minded, everything is money! And do not forget : Cash connects people! The jury will be composed of Manuela Pfrunder (Bills Designer), Erick Lacourrège (Bank of France), Päivi Heikkinen, Sam Stourdzé (Director of Les Rencontres d’Arles), Philippe Assalit (Photographer) and Émile Loreaux (Photographer) will elect the 3 most revelating pictures. A specific 27 photos decided by the jury will be displayed in a special exhibition in 2018. The 3 most voted images will win the public prize.
